AMENDMENTS TO THE BOCA NATIONAL BUILDING CODE/1996 CHAPTER 12 - INTERIOR ENVIRONMENT (Amd) 1202.1 General: The following additional words and terms shall, for the purposes of this chapter and as used elsewhere in this code, have the meanings shown herein. (Add) Attic, habitable: A habitable attic is that portion of an attic which has a stairway as a means of access and egress and in which the area of a plane established at a height of 7-1/3 feet above the attic floor is not more than one-third of the area of the next floor below. A habitable attic shall not constitute a story above grade.
