Originally, the State of Connecticut State Building Code was published as a single volume. That was almost thirty years ago, in 1971, when Connecticut adopted its first mandatory statewide building code. Amendments to the Code were adopted in 1974, and again a single volume was published. In 1981, the Connecticut Basic Building Code was published, once more as a single volume.

Each of these publications was a comprehensive industry sourcebook which combined the original codes and amendments into one bookóthe "Blue Book." And then things started to get Complicated  Add another book, and yet another book...

Welcome to "Book Juggling 101" In 1987, The Connecticut Building Code was updated. Again, in 1989, the Code was updated. Each of those times Connecticut adopted the BOCA National Building Code and the BOCA National Supplement, together with the Connecticut Supplement. This resulted in the development of a new industry-related skill known as "Book Juggling." Switching from book to book to check the Code, its amendments and any subsequent updatesóThis is a task which quickly becomes tiresome.
