CONNECTICUT STATE FIRE SAFETY CODE

Sec. 15: Section 29-292-9d of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies is amended as follows:

Chapter Twenty-one, Section 21-3.3.1, of the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code is amended to read:

(Amd) 21-3.3.1 Approved, single-station smoke alarms shall be installed in accordance with Section 7-6.2.10 in the following locations:

(a) All sleeping rooms;

Exception No. 1 to (a): Smoke alarms shall not be required in sleeping rooms in existing construction.

Exception No. 2 to (a): In buildings protected throughout by an approved automatic sprinkler system where the bedrooms are equipped with residential sprinklers.

(b) Outside of each separate sleeping area, in the immediate vicinity of the sleeping rooms;

(c) On each additional story of the dwelling unit including basements.

Exception: Residential buildings designed to be occupied by one family for which a building permit for new occupancy was issued prior to October 1, 1978.
