CONNECTICUT STATE FIRE SAFETY CODE

Sec. 14: Section 29-292-9d of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies is amended as follows:

(NEW) Chapter Twenty-one of the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code is amended by adding the following:

(Amd) 21-2.5.1 Stairs, ramps, guards, and handrails shall be in accordance with Section 5-2.2 for stairs and Section 5-2.5 for ramps.

Exception No. 1: The provisions of Sections 5-2.2.5, 5-2.5.5, and 5-7.3 shall not apply.

Exception No. 2: If serving as a secondary means of escape, stairs complying with fire escape requirements of Table 5-2.8.4(a) or (b) and ramps complying with the existing ramp requirements of Exception No. 2 to Section 5-2.5.2 shall be permitted.

Exception No. 3: Maximum riser heights of 8¼ in. (20.9 cm) and minimum tread depths of 9 in. (22.9 cm) shall be permitted for stairs in new construction.
